Vietnam Home Stay 12 K from Sapa (click on the images to enlarge)

After the visit to the Bac ha markets we stayed overnight in a fancy hotel in Sapa, our tour had been arranged in Hanoi  by the Atrium hotel owner, the tour included all meals , guides, accommodation and travel.
It had snowed in Sapa only a few days before our arrival and it was very cold with low cloud cover that made it imposable to see any views. The hotel fed and pampered us and when they put us to bed the young male took us to our room, made sure we had wifi and turned the heating on. Teresa didn't want the heater on but I talked her into it. thank goodness I did as it was freezing  After breakfast a vehicle took us to our home stay. 12 k away. most people trek there, but, we were not equipped for trekking in freezing weather , so a vehicle was booked to take us there.

The fog rolled in and it was freezing

What on earth have we  got ourselves into here

Chicken feet were on the menu

Most of our first day was spent huddled around this  basin full of coal

Hoa's boy friend (a chef in Sapa) starts prep for the evening meal of Pork.

Hoa and sister never stopped working

Hoa took us to the vegie patch so Teresa could select her dinner

During the first afternoon the drizzle stopped for a short period so we went  out to look at the surrounds

A pre school just down the road

The local school. We tagged on to the end of a tour group to see the students and teachers working
, they made us most welcome

Hoa's Mum came into the kitchen with this dead rat from her bed room she placed it next to the fire
we screamed are you going to eat that, Hoa replied no its just being kept warm for the cat to eat

The pigs were very hungry and squealed with delight when fed a large pot that had been heating on the kitchen fire place

The chef boy friend made these skewers from coat hangers to BBQ the pork
for dinner

Yes chicken feet were on the menu
