On our approach to Sydney we were coming in on the M1 The road is just fantastic as it has been sliced through the mountains (no tunnels) that makes a fantastic sight. At about 85 klms out our first hint of trouble came, the ute started to loose power under pressure. trucks were starting to fly past us as we climbed through the hills. I knew what the problem was a dirty fuel filter, I managed to nurse the ute with its load through Sydney to Wollongong and get the new filter, I fitted the new filter in the K Mart car park in Nowra after I had purchased a tool to move the old one. With the new filter in place we were running back to normal. (hopeful that it would also help in the reduction in fuel use) South of Sydney they have built a road that juts out over the ocean just before you get to the Wollongong area. The best way to do this road is drive through the national park as you head out of Sydney then the road leads on to the ocean highway A toll of $11 park pass to drive the National Park road, but its worth every cent as its just fantastic. At Buli we stayed in a Caravan park that offered Seniors discount (every little bit of saving helps) but when one went to use the showers you had to pay for the hot water 20 cents for four minutes. I have seen this all over Europe but, not in Australia, that was a first for us ever in OZ. We often called into small towns here and there just to see the coast or the town itself was all about, at one small town on a lakes edge we noted very colourful parrots flying along the waters edge. out again came a new loaf of bread, to which these parrots and other birds just loved. The whole loaf just disappeared before our eyes as every bird in the area came in for a free feed. Both of us a loaf of bread and the birds just magic. One town I wanted to call at is Pambula, it's situated below Bega on the south coast of NSW. (Yes we went to the Bega cheese factory , but, the cheese is cheaper at Coles and Woolies) We had purchased our camper from here Pambula without ever being here (done the deal on the Internet) Our camper was imported from the US and re wired and new gas pipes to meet Australian standards were done here. It was delivered free to Port Augusta in SA where we had picked it up three years ago. On arrival in Pambula we did not have a address for Hooroo campers so in a near by town of Merimbula we asked how to locate the dealership. They looked it up on the net then rang Sean who was pleased to hear from us. He was driving back from Melbourne and would keep a eye out for us so we could catch up. Ten minutes later our phone rang, it was Sean he asked if we could stay around Pambula for the night as he had a proposition for us. We stayed in a caravan park that was full of Kangaroos, When we got up in the morning I counted 68 Kangaroos all around us. After leaving the caravan park we drove into the town and were just about to text Sean to let him know we were in town, when he rang and then pulled up behind us, he told us he was just about to write to us to recall our camper as it required a new gas cooker and other gas pipe work to be replaced. to meet Australian standards and as the importer he was required to do the work. we said but, it all works fine, he said it must be fitted with a Australian Gas sticker and the work needs to be done free of charge to us. During our conversations I said I was thinking of selling it in Tasmania as these campers travel on the ferry at no extra charge, not like a caravan, that is charged at about $800 each way. Sean said if you do want to sell it he has a possible buyer here, who is after a camper with a shower, toilet, and aircon, all of which our camper has. He has none in stock with any of those features and none coming in the near future. We have had the camper nearly three years and used it about five times on small trips in Western Australia, Most of the time it has sat in our garage. Its real nice having the a shower and toilet inside and no extra rego etc. but, we were in mind of a 4wd van again, like we had before. The decision was made to leave the camper to be fitted with the new gas work and see if this other buyer was interested. Teresa spent three hours getting our gear out of the van and giving the inside a final clean out. I loaded the ute with gear as it came out, I did not realise just what she had packed in the camper. We purchased waterproof bags ,tarps and four half size plastic wheelie bins to put it all in. Sean was going to fix a few minor things and also detail the van so the next buyer would see it like new. It was aw full leaving all our comforts, queen inter spring mattress, shower toilet behind in the workshop. As we arrived in Melbourne Sean was on the phone again saying would we be happy with 24 thousand, as he thinks the bloke will pay that., he had just been to inspect the van, but his wife has to make the final desion next Sunday. We paid 24,500 three years ago ypee hope he can swing it. In Melbourne we found accommodation hard to find, so you guessed it off to K mart got a three man tent where we stayed at a big 4 caravan park just over the Westgate Bridge. Now that's roughing it.
I have several more pics to post, but, my laptop screen has crashed, and until I get that sorted they will have to wait. No word on the camper todate.
