Faces and Places - One day in Rome (click on images to enlarge)

It was a 1030 am arrival into Civitavecchia, Romes port that is situated about 85 klm from the centre of Rome. We were off the ship and on the free port shuttle bus that takes you in to the edge of Civitavecchia. Our plan was to just look around Civitavecchia city, find a internet cafe have a relaxing day on the shore then head back to the ship, after all we had seen Rome on four or five times over the years.

On the shuttle bus was both the couples that we had outings with sharing taxi's etc. on our two Island stops. When the bus stopped close to the city we were mobbed by taxi drivers wanting to take people to Rome for euro 35 per head, a taxi with four people.   Me being a smartie said sorry their is six of us, but, no they had a van that would take the six of us in comfort for euro 40 per person.  Out of the six of us, three had been to Rome and three had not. We took a vote on going or not, the result 4 in favor. so in we got and off we went.

The Taxi driver gave us one of the best days out that one could wish for, he loved his city and knew exactly how to show us, with just the right amount of time at each place of interest.

I thought we had seen Rome but, no he took us every where to places that we had never heard of and more. It was a fantastic and enjoyable day out.

When we arrived back at Civitavecchai he took us for a spin around that city before delivering us right back to the ships gang way. (Photos not in order)
