Faces and Places Myanmar pic Set #6 (click on image to enlarge)

With over 2000 Photos taken on and around the lake we headed north to Mandalay.
The first part of this road trip is towards the centre of the country, crossing some very scenic mountains, before heading north to Mandalay.
We had travelled this road before by bus, both day and night so we knew that there was plenty to see and that's why we hired our own taxi for the trip.
As it turned out the money spent could have been saved on a much cheaper seat on a overnight bus as it was very hard to take photos let alone stop and take photos.
The only good thing about this taxi ride was that we had a comfy seat and travel time was about half than that of the bus.

It was about a 330 KLM drive and about 25% of the road was under construction or being upgraded. The road work is all done by manual labour and 90% of the workers are female, its all hard yakka as the only machine we saw working was a roller.
Rocks were being smashed by hand then carried by baskets to be placed as road base,
The tar is melted in situ in 44 gal drums and applied.
